THE APOSTOLIC SEE GRANTED A FULL PLENARY INDULGENCE ON THE OCCASION OF THE JUBILEE YEAR OF THE 400TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE MARTYRDOM OF THE HOLY HIEROMARTYR JOSAPHAT
On the occasion of the jubilee year, dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the martyrdom of the holy martyr Josaphat, you can get a Plenary Indulgence by taking part in a pilgrimage to any monastery or church of the Basilian Order of St. Josaphat (OSBM).
Based on the authority received from Pope Francis, the Apostolic Penitentiary issued a decree on November 16, 2022, which states that during this Jubilee year, the Basilian monks and the faithful who will participate with them in its celebration may receive a Full Plenary Indulgence.
The decree of the Apostolic Penitentiary outlines the duration of the Jubilee year: from November 25, 2022 to November 25, 2023.
What is a plenary indulgence?
A plenary indulgence is a particularly powerful way to obtain remission of punishment -- on earth or in purgatory – that would have resulted from sins that were already forgiven. In order to receive a full remission of untimely punishments for sins for yourself or for one deceased person, you must fulfill the usual conditions:
to be in sanctifying grace (for this, to receive the forgiveness of all sins in the Sacrament of Confession);
participate in the Divine Liturgy and receive Holy Communion;
to pray for the intentions of the Pope (one Our Father, one Hail Mary, recite the Symbol of Faith [the Creed], and one Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. Amen).
A Christian can receive leave on the occasion of the Jubilee year:
who will visit any church of the Basilian Order of St. Josaphat in the form of a pilgrimage, and there:
will take a devout part in the jubilee services;
or at least for a suitable period of time (about half an hour) they will devote time to pious meditation
at the end, the Lord's Prayer "Our Father", the Symbol of Faith (the Creed), as well as prayers to the Blessed Virgin Mary and Saint Josaphat will be recited.
The elderly, the sick, and all those who cannot leave home for valid reasons can also receive a full Leave of Absence, if:
will renounce all sin with the intention of fulfilling, as soon as possible, the three usual conditions (mentioned above);
if before any holy image they join spiritually with the jubilee celebrations, offering to the merciful God their prayers, the pain and suffering of their lives.
Some prayers to the Blessed Mother of God and Saint Josaphat:
Mother of God Virgin, rejoice, blessed Mary, the Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb, because you gave birth to Christ the Savior, the Redeemer of our souls.
Or:
It is truly worthy to glorify you as blessed, Theotokos, all-blessed and immaculate, and Mother of our God. Fairer than the cherubim and incomparably more glorious than the seraphim, who gave birth to the Word of God without decay, the Mother of God, we magnify you.
Or:
We run to your mercy, Mother of God; do not despise our prayers in sorrows, but deliver us from troubles, the only pure and blessed one.
(Kontakion of St. Josaphat) Illumined by the fiery dawn in your childhood from the crucified Christ* in your monastic life you became like the angels* and lived devoutly in holiness,* clearly preaching unity.* With your martyr's blood you extinguished hearts inflamed by discord * and accepted the crown from Christ.* Therefore, remember us who cry out to you:* Rejoice, steadfast pillar of union!
Or:
Great martyr of Christ, Josaphat, a wonderful example of Christian perfection and invincible apostle of the union of Churches! Out of love for God, you did not give up any work and labor, and even gladly shed blood and gave your life. We beg you, holy patron and father, intercede for us and ask us for steadfastness in the holy Catholic faith and zeal for the salvation of our own souls, the souls of our families, acquaintances and all people. Holy High Martyr Josaphat, remember that you are our brother of blood and flesh, so intercede with God for the people from which you came. Do, our patron saint, with your powerful prayers, so that unity in the holy faith will be established in the entire Ukrainian people, so that everyone will become children of one Christ's Church, and that our people, enriched with temporal and eternal blessings, will glorify God, who rewarded you a crown of glory in His Heavenly Kingdom, to Whom belongs glory, honor and worship. To the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and always and forever and ever. Amen.

Decree
The Apostolic Penitentiary, to increase the piety of the faithful and ensure the salvation of souls, by virtue of the powers given to it in a separate way by the Holy Father in Christ and our Lord Cyrus Francis by Divine Providence, the Pope, accepting the request recently submitted by the Most Reverend Fr. Robert Roman Lyseik, Protoarchimandrite, Superior General of the Basilian Order of St. Josaphat, on the occasion of the solemn celebrations in honor of St. Josaphat, which will be held from November 25, 2022 until November 25, 2023, graciously grants from the heavenly treasures of the Church a full Indulgence under ordinary conditions (the sacrament of Confession , Holy Communion and prayer in the intention of the Holy Father) to fathers and all the faithful stirred by the true spirit of repentance and love; this leave can also be donated to help souls in purgatory,
The aged, the sick, and all those who cannot for valid reasons leave their homes, can also receive a complete Indulgence, provided they renounce all sin with the intention of fulfilling, as soon as possible, the three usual conditions, if before any holy image will unite spiritually with the jubilee celebrations, offering to the merciful God their prayers, pain and suffering of their lives.
So that, therefore, this opportunity to receive divine grace with the help of the keys of the Church was more easily grasped through pastoral mercy, this Penitentiary persistently requests that the fathers of the Basilian Order of St. Josaphat willingly and generously perform the holy mystery of Penance.
This decree is valid only for this event. Notwithstanding any order to the contrary.

З нагоди ювілейного року, присвяченого 400-літтю мученицької смерті святого священномученика Йосафат, можна отримати повний відпуст, взявши участь у паломництві до будь якого храму Василіянського Чину святого Йосафата.
На основі повноважень, отриманих від Папи Франциска, Апостольська Пенітенціарія 16 листопада 2022 р. видала декрет, у якому зазначено, що під час цього Ювілейного року ченці василіяни та вірні, які разом з ними будуть брати участь у його відзначенні, можуть отримати Повний відпуст.
Декрет Апостольської Пенітенціарії окреслює час тривання Ювілейного року: від 25 листопада 2022 року – аж до 25 листопада 2023 року.
Щоб отримати повний відпуст дочасних кар за гріхи для себе або для одного померлого, потрібно виконати звичайні умови:
перебувати в освячуючій благодаті (для цього отримати прощення всіх гріхів у Таїнстві сповіді);
взяти участь у Божественній Літургії і прийняти Святе Причастя;
помолитися у наміренні Святішого Отця.
Відпуст з нагоди Ювілейного року може отримати християнин та християнка:
які відвідають у формі паломництва будь-який храм Василіянського Чину Святого Йосафата, і там:
візьмуть побожну участь у ювілейних богослужіннях;
або принаймні протягом відповідного проміжку часу (близько півгодини) присвятять час побожним роздумам
прокажуть на закінчення Господню Молитву «Отче наш», Символ Віри, а також молитви до Пресвятої Діви Марії та святого Йосафата.
Похилі віком, хворі і всі ті, що не можуть з поважних причин залишити дім, так само зможуть отримати повний Відпуст, якщо:
відречуться від всякого гріха з наміром виконати, відразу як тільки буде можливість, три звичайні умови (про які йдеться вище);
якщо перед будь-яким святим образом поєднаються духовно з ювілейними святкуваннями, жертвуючи милосердному Богові свої молитви, біль і страждання свого життя.
Деякі молитви до Пресвятої Богородиці та святого Йосафата
Богородице Діво, радуйся, благодатна Маріє, Господь з тобою. Благословенна ти між жінками і благословенний плід лона твого, бо ти породила Христа Спаса, Ізбавителя душ наших.
Або:
Достойно є воістину величати блаженною тебе, Богородицю, всеблаженну і пренепорочну, і Матір Бога нашого. Чеснішу від херувимів і незрівнянно славнішу від серафимів, що без зотління Бога Слово породила, сущу Богородицю, тебе величаємо.
Або:
Під твою милість прибігаємо, Богородице Діво; молитвами нашими в скорботах не погорди, але від бід визволи нас, єдина чиста і благословенна.

Великий мученику Христовий, Йосафате, чудовий взоре християнської досконалості і непереможний апостоле з’єднання Церков! Ти з любові до Бога не відказався ні від яких праць і трудів, і навіть радо пролляв кров і віддав своє життя. Благаємо тебе, святий покровителю й отче, заступайся за нас і випроси нам непохитності у святій католицькій вірі й ревності за спасіння наших власних душ, душ наших родин, знайомих і всіх людей. Святий сященномученику Йосафате, згадай, що ти брат наш із крові й кості, тому заступайся в Бога за народ, з якого ти вийшов. Робертом Романом Лисейком, Протоархимандритом, Генеральним Настоятелем Василіянського Чину Святого Йосафата, з нагоди урочистих святкувань на честь Святого Йосафата, які звершуватимуться від 25 листопада 2022 року і аж до 25 листопада 2023, милостиво уділяє з небесних скарбів Церкви повний Відпуст за звичайних умов (таїнство Сповіді, святе Причастя і молитва в наміренні Святішого Отця) отцям і всім вірним побудженим правдивим духом покаяння і любові; цей відпуст також можна пожертвувати як допомогу душам в чистилищі, якщо вірні відвідають у формі паломництва будь-який храм Василіянського Чину Святого Йосафата і там побожно візьмуть участь у ювілейних богослужіннях або принаймні присвятять відповідний проміжок часу побожним роздумам і прокажуть на закінчення Господню Молитву, Символ Віри а також молитви до Пресвятої Діви Марії і святого Йосафата.
Похилі віком, хворі і всі ті, що не можуть з поважних причин залишити дім, так само зможуть отримати повний Відпуст за умови якщо відречуться від всякого гріха з наміром виконати, як тільки буде можливість, три звичайні умови, якщо перед будь-яким святим образом поєднаються духовно з ювілейними святкуваннями, жертвуючи милосердному Богові свої молитви, біль і страждання свого життя.
Щоб, отже, ця нагода отримати божественну благодать з допомогою ключів Церкви легше була осягнута через душпастирське милосердя, ця Пенітенціарія наполегливо просить, щоб отці з Василіянського Чину Святого Йосафата з готовністю і великодушністю звершували святу тайну Покаяння.
Даний декрет є правосильним лише для цієї події. Незважаючи на будь-яке протилежне розпорядження.
